The rising of Puanga is a time of reflection. This year as we reflect on Te Tiriti o Waitangi and what effect it has on our community, the Alexander Heritage and Research Library Te Rerenga Mai o Te Kāuru warmly invites you to our Treaty Talks. In this series, four local iwi leaders will talk about the impact of Te Tiriti o Waitangi from different perspectives, ranging from historical to contemporary. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about iwi concerns and speak to today’s iwi leaders.
In this session Tumu Whakarae Chair Te Kaahui o Rauru, Mike Neho (Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi), will discuss post-settlement governance entities and mana motuhake (autonomy/ self-determination/ sovereignty).
Due to the seating capacity of our venue, please let us know if you are planning on attending - especially if you are planning on coming with a group.
