HOW TO TRAP A TINY TALE and TAME IT!
Creative writing workshop for young writers (Years 7 & 8)
Are you a young writer in Central Otago with a big imagination? Are you ready to turn your ideas into stories and learn more about being a writer?
Join writer and teacher, Heather McQuillan, as we trap tiny tales and learn ways to tame them.
We will start with the essentials of a story, trap some on the page and discover ways to make them behave.
Please bring: something to write on and with, your imagination, and a net.( net optional)
Heather McQuillan is an internationally recognised writer of flash short fiction, a three-time Storylines Notable Books Award winner for her middle grade fiction, and has just completed
six months as the University of Otago College of Education/ Creative New Zealand Children's Writer in Residence. For many years, Heather was a classroom teacher and deputy principal. She is now the director of Write On School for Young Writers in Christchurch and works with hundreds of young writers every year. She has a Master of Creative Writing with
distinction from Massey University. Heather's most recent books are Where Oceans Meet and other stories ( Reflex Press UK, 2019) and Avis and the Promise of Dragons ( The Cuba Press, NZ, 2019)
This workshop is suitable for enthusiastic writers in years 7 and 8.
