Haydn The Creation: The Representation of Chaos
Ives The Unanswered Question
Mozart Bassoon Concerto in B-Flat, K191
Dvořák Symphony No.6
The concert opens with Haydn and Ives, poignantly performed back-to-back, as a reflection of the world’s descent into pandemic chaos juxtaposed with the uncertainty of the new world that awaits.
On a more optimistic note APO Principal Bassoon Ingrid Hagan takes on Mozart’s delightfully frothy Bassoon Concerto. This is the first concerto Mozart wrote for a wind instruments and it shows off the instrument’s elegance and lyrical agility.
Dvořák’s Sixth Symphony is sometimes regarded as his ‘Pastoral Symphony’. The mood of the entire work is warm and tranquil, inspired by Czech folk music and revealing the composer in his most characteristic guise.
Due to the impact of COVID-19 this concert has seen changes to soloists and repertoire. Existing tickets for this concerts are still valid. If you wish to attend and already have a ticket there is no need to get in touch and we look forward to seeing you.
