Wyllie Cottage
Website
Wyllie Cottage is the oldest European house standing in the Gisborne area. Once nearly condemned for demolition, the cottage has seen many changes. It has been refurbished to better show the stories of the people who lived there, and the times they lived in.
Features of the cottage include: a walk-in wardrobe showing various women's formal attire of the day, a 3D topographic map with significant points of interest in the Gisborne region, photographic and interpretative panels, walk-in room viewing, and original display objects.
The inside of the cottage is open to view during the hours the Tairawhiti Museum is open. See the website for the museum hours. The outside can be viewed any time.
