Parua Bay School

Welcome to the Parua Bay School website. The school is without doubt the best kept secret in Whangarei. Our school was established in 1871 at Owhiwa Road and we moved to our present location in 1872. We have many proud traditions which have evolved into our school being essentially an environmentally conscious friendly school.

Parua Bay is a growing and popular area to live in, situated on the Whangarei Heads peninsular with proximity to beautiful safe swimming beaches, and excellent access to a raft of water activities. Just 20 minutes away from Whangarei, we consider ourselves in a fortunate position to offer you the best of both rural and urban worlds.

Our school has beautiful grounds with large mature trees long most of the perimeter. We have large grounds and a wildlife walkway linking the school to the ocean.

We are a co-ed school catering for years 1 – 8 students. We welcome students from many nations. At our school approximately 67% students are NZ European, and 20.5% Maori. Our multicultural population includes African, Australian, British/Irish, Cook Island, South Eastern Asian, Samoan and German. We value and appreciate the diversity of these cultures and the richness that these students bring to our school.
