The Hearing Association exists to help people with any type of hearing problem. They are a volunteer organisation and receive no government funding.
It began as the League for the Hard of Hearing in 1932. It changed its name to The Hearing Association in 1976. They have 28 local associations spread throughout New Zealand. Each local association is a separate incorporated society, with members selecting the officers. This enables them to operate at low cost.
