Sacred Spaces of Wellington, Walk Three may be the upcoming event you’re looking for.

Discover histories of faith communities which have served Wellington since the 19th century. Learn about architecture, art, beliefs and rituals distinctive to these traditions through three half day visits on November 1 and 2.

Walk one on November 1 starts at 2 p.m. at 80 Webb Street at the Beth El Orthodox Synagogue, founded in Wellington in 1843, which also houses the New Zealand Holocaust Centre. Next is the Theosophical Society, near Cuba Street. The society dates from 1875 when it was founded to encourage comparison of religions to identify common teachings.

The last visit will be to St Peter's Church, 211 Willis Street, founded in 1847 and built in Gothic style using New Zealand timbers in 1879. The Anglican church first established a mission station in 1814 in the Bay of Islands and has been in Wellington from 1840. Stay if you can for a debrief over a light meal at 6 p.m. (koha welcomed).
Walks are guided by:

Sir David Moxon, from Hamilton, a former Archbishop of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand, and a former director of the Anglican Centre in Rome.
Dr Richard Norman, a member of Historic Places Wellington, with experience as a teacher and researcher of management studies.
