Gisborne Canoe and Tramping Club, Moumoukai Maunga, Mōrere

The start of this walk is part way down the Mōrere Hill at Mangatoto Station. We walk along a sidling and gently climbing track leading to a lime quarry before climbing 250m to the summit of Moumoukai (612m), on Moumoukai Station. This is a prominent hill with rock outcrops above the Nūhaka River overlooking the Mōrere - Nūhaka area.
Mangatoto & Moumoukai Stations have recently been planted in Pinus radiata. Logic Forest Solutions manages the forest on behalf of the station owners. Car pooling with a contribution of $15 towards the vehicle costs. Ph Gillian 867 4591 or 027 645 6880
