Have you ever looked out your window and wondered what that sweet, wee bird was? The New Zealand Garden Bird Survey needs curious people like you!
Run annually by Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research, the survey asks citizen scientists around the country to count backyard birdlife. All those observations then give policy-makers and scientists a sense of how local birds and their environments are doing.
This year, the survey is taking place from 29 June – 7 July 2024, so get ready to dust off your bird-counting skills!
On Saturday 22 June, Tūhura Otago Museum dedicates the whole day to celebrating our fine, feathered friends. Join us for heaps of fun, family-friendly activities and discover what birds you can meet in your own backyard!
10am – 3pm: Wild Wings Gallery Trail (collect from the Information Desk)
