Did you know that fungi are an integral part of all ecosystems, including here at Zealandia?
There are hundreds of different species occurring throughout the sanctuary and down into the wider Kaiwharawhara water catchment. The valley is rich in native bush that is remnant, regenerating and actively being restored by local initiatives like the Sanctuary to Sea project.
But what fungi is it that we find here? What are they doing? If we encourage them, how will they contribute to improving our biodiversity goals? Join us for a kōrero/talk led by Manaaki Whenua mycologist and author Dr Geoff Ridley as he discusses his research into the fungi of the Kaiwharawhara!
This event will be held in the Pāteke Room and will refreshments will be provided. Doors open at 6.15pm.
