Seasonal Celebrations are being held at Anō Anō and throughout the community. We will do crafts suited to the season, and invite the sharing of stories about what this time of year means for us in our own lives, in the cultures we have come from, and in the changes we've noticed happening in nature.
This time we’ll be celebrating Winter Solstice or Yule - the longest night of the year. In the northern hemisphere, this is Christmas time, and many Christmas traditions like decorating trees, making gifts, yule logs for the fire, telling stories, and having feasts are midwinter traditions. Winter was a hungry and dark time for many of our ancestors, so they had a celebration to encourage the sun to come back, and to cheer each other up!
So, if you’d like to do something special for the longest night of the year, come along ready for lantern-making, storytelling, spookyness, and cookies. Bring something to share if you like - whether it’s kai, a special story, or an idea for a winter craft we can make together.
We run on funding and donations, and koha is appreciated
