The Association of Book Crafts invites letterpress printers, printmakers, bookbinders, book artists and calligraphers to their annual Wayzgoose in Wellington. Supported by The Printing Museum, Wellington Centre for Book Arts, Wai-te-ata Press | Te Whare Tā O Wai-te-ata at Victoria University of Wellington | Te Herenga Waka the programme runs from Friday 24 November afternoon to Sunday 26 November afternoon.
Collection visits, a swap meet, social gatherings, workshops and site visits are some of the treats on offer. While most events are free, most require pre-booking (and some have already been booked out). Full details are on the website, with new activities being added as the programme is finalised.
Highlights include:
National Library + Te Papa visits – an opportunity to view book craft treasures from their collections
Swap Meet – buy, sell and swap all things relating to book crafts, letterpress printing and bookbinding and calligraphy. Held at the Wellington Centre for Book Arts, Thorndon Quay Saturday afternoon.
Workshops – for letterpress printing and bookbinding
Site visits – Wai-te-ata Press and the Type Foundry at Mangaroa on Sunday
Wayzgoose dinner – on Saturday night at Le Marché Français Bistro (above the Wellington Centre for Book Arts).
