Wondering how to start in letterpress? Wondering what press to buy? Want to brush up? Just feel like chilling out creatively for a weekend? This class is for you!
This workshop will cover all the main presses you might use in letterpress: the basic cast-iron ancient hand-press through table-top, treadle, and proof, to touch briefly on the automatic Heidelberg Platen- the prince of presses. (Examples of all these presses are available to purchase through The Printing Museum.)
The workshop will explore creative letterpress techniques and focus on production of popular letterpress items viz. greeting cards, business cards, invitations, posters, make and print a linocut, and simple hand-bound booklets.
This new workshop is led by Graham Judd of Inkiana Press, formerly GTO Printers. Graham is a highly experienced, qualified letterpress machinist, one of the top letterpress educators in the country with regular assignments abroad. https://www.inkianapress.co.nz
