Nau mai haere mai, all are welcome to attend an introduction and how to harvest, prepare and kohua for preservation of your harakeke.
These classes will allow you to graduate from beginners to intermediate classes.
The focus will be on putiputi (Flowers), Konae, Kono, (two-corner and four-corner containers).
Led by Linda Lee (Ngāti Kurī, Ngāi Tākoto, Te Rarawa, Te Aupōri, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Huia), Frank Topia (Ngā Puhi, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Haua) with and kaiāwhina (helpers).
We will start with tikanga and harvesting as well as storage. You will walk away with woven taonga at the end of this class.
As we can only harvest in certain weather conditions please try to book at least 3 days in advance.
Beginners moving into Intermediate level can purchase "Stay for the day ticket" if you think you are ready and class will finish at 4-4:30. Note: You should be harvesting for yourself.

NOTE: IF CLASS NUMBERS ARE TOO LOW, WE MAY HAVE TO CANCEL SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAILS BEFORE CLASS. (We will be able to transfer or refund your tickets.)
No experience is required for beginners. Please arrive on time for karakia (blessing).
Light refreshments will be provided and you are welcome to bring shared kai.
Children over 10 please and if under 14 should be accompanied by an adult with a ticket.
