Morning People Ōtautahi presents MarkJ!

Hailing from the vibrant city of Melbourne and homegrown in New Zealand, on Wednesday 22nd November MarkJ will be cooking up a special blend of house and techno for the Morning People dancefloor.

MarkJ is not your typical DJ. He's the mastermind behind Soundfood, a unique project where he simultaneously cooks delectable dishes while DJing. While he’ll be exclusively serving beats at this installment of Morning People, we have you covered with our usual goodies including Altezano Brothers coffee, All Good bananas, and ice-cold kombucha from Karma.

MarkJ has opened for dance music luminaries Carl Cox, Seth Troxler, Moodymann, James Curd, Psychemagik and D-Nox and he’s performed at iconic festivals including Rainbow Serpent, Burning Man, Strawberry Fields, Rhythm & Vines, Happy Daze, and Chi Wow Wah Town.

In 2014, MarkJ released a cookbook that featured a group of talented musicians, each contributing a tune to pair with a recipe. Contributing artists included the likes of Opiuo, Spoonbill, Tom Cosm, Fiord, and more.

Serve yourself up some early morning beats and get ready to immerse your senses in MarkJ's uniquely delicious tunes!
