Matariki at Planetarium North

The Whangarei District Council and Planetarium North invite you to come along for free to see all that the local planetarium has to offer!

At Planetarium North you can look up even during a thunderstorm and see the stars and constellations in their full glory. It is a realistic projection of the night sky in a fully indoor dome ceiling.

The knowledgeable volunteers will give a tour of the night sky featuring the Scorpion at sunset, visible planets and the rising of Matariki at dawn. Then as an added bonus if the weather is good, you may even get to take a look through the telescopes outside into the night sky.

Tours run every Saturday regardless of the weather as the main attraction is the indoor planetarium, however the telescopes are offered when possible.
