Want to know more about the special plants and fauna living at Ōtari-Wilton’s Bush? The Ōtari-Wilton's Bush Trust's annual programme of Sunday guided walks offers the opportunity to explore with the experts, discover where all these special things live and learn more about them and what’s being done to protect them.
For this week's walk, learn how pests came to be in New Zealand and in Ōtari-Wilton's Bush, the damage they can do, and how they are being controlled by our very own RAMBO (Rats and Mustelids Blitzing Ōtari) team. There will be a slide show, stuffed animals and traps to check out, plus we’ll ‘go trapping’ along one of our actual traplines. RAMBO’s Jim Tait and Kathy Ombler will be your hosts. This walk is designed for younger people (4-15 years) and their families.
Easy walking although sensible walking shoes are recommended. Family groups are welcome.
Meet at the Ōtari Visitor Centre, Tāne Whakapiripiri at 2pm.
All walks are free to Trust members, you can sign-up through their website shown above.
