Delve into the art of haiku in this workshop led by poet Richard von Sturmer. Take inspiration from your surroundings, the change of seasons and flora and fauna in Cornwall Park while learning to compose your own haiku poetry. All materials are provided. This workshop is for ages 16+

Richard von Sturmer is a New Zealand writer. His latest book, Resonating Distances, a collection of poetry and prose stories, was published this year by Titus Books. In 2020 he was the University of Waikato’s writer-in-residence. His haiku have appeared in New Zealand and international publications.

The workshop will be run outside in the park so please dress for the weather conditions, wear sturdy shoes and bring a drink bottle. Something comfortable to sit on, a stool, blanket or cushion is recommended. Please note there are no public facilities in this area of Cornwall Park. Masks are required if the workshop must be held indoors at Huia Lodge, but not required for the outdoor component of the class. If you feel more comfortable wearing them the whole time, we support your decision.

Registration is essential and numbers are limited.
