About the 'Shrines to Peace' Art project. Lotus Realm donated 19 blank shrine boxes to the project, and a diverse selection of artists from the local Thames Community were invited to take a blank box and use it to express something about the concept of 'Peace'.

The artists generously donated their time, skill, vision and materials to create these works. The wide range of styles, techniques, content and concepts are befitting a group show. It is obvious that the theme of 'Peace' is very much in people's awareness at the moment, and while some of the works are concerned with 'outer' peace others are more about 'inner peace' and yet they all share the celebration of the art process and the mystery of creativity.

The Shrines are available for purchase, and as a fundraising event the proceeds will go towards the Buddhaloka / Thames Buddhist Centre, a 'place of peace' where meditation and dharma teaching is offered free of charge. The show is available for viewing at the Back Room venue at Lotus Realm, 714 Pollen St, Thames, and runs for the month of June.

The artists are: Akasamati (Sue Thompson), Angelique Delano, Amritadaka (P. Kennelly), The Artsider Workshop Collaboration, Chris Mules, Heather Garland, i*i (Istari), Jack Moskowitz, Kathryn Engebretsen, Kate Coatsworth, Leigh McIntyre, Maitrikirti (Kate Ewing), Marie Robinson, Nancy Cate, Nityadana, The Red Rocket brigade (Satyananda and Jessica Paton-Armstrong), Serene Woolf, Sue Clark, Ujjalamati (Andrea Gill).
