Dr Rock

Following our rocking show and tell, Understanding Stone: Pounamu’s Geology, Dr Rock (geologist Nick Mortimer) would love to see your special stones and answer your geological questions. He’ll be available on Atrium Level 2 from 11.30am – 12.30pm, so bring along your favourite rock for inspection and identification.

Then check out the Kura Pounamu: Our Treasured Stone special exhibition, featuring over 200 ancient and contemporary pounamu pieces, including hei tiki, meremere weapons, and impressive pounamu touchstones.
