Hear from Humanities Curator Moira White about the adventurous Agnes Fawcett Barden and the beautiful collection of antiquities and decorative arts that she and her husband, Siegfried Barden, carefully assembled.
The third daughter of Bendix and Mary Hallenstein, Agnes graduated from the University of Otago in 1893, then moved overseas in her mid-20s, spending the rest of her life in England and Europe. Tūhura Otago Museum's Absolutely Agnes exhibition celebrates her life and displays some of the extensive Barden collection, which is part of the Hallenstein family's philanthropic legacy in Dunedin.
Come along to learn more about the remarkable woman at the heart of this exhibition, and enjoy 10% off at the Museum Shop afterwards!
