You’ll be surprised at the variety and specialness of birds to be found on Dunedin City’s doorstep.
View birds up close using spotting scopes with members of Birds NZ at Tomahawk Lagoon on Saturday 24 April from 10 am to 12 pm.

Bring binoculars, if you have them.

Tomahawk Lagoon is a good habitat for most of the species of duck found in New Zealand and if we are lucky we will see some waders as well - herons, stilts and oystercatchers.

Most birds can be seen without walking, but for those who would like to explore further, we will offer guided walks around part of the lagoon. It will depend on who turns up and what your interests are.
The shrubs around the lagoon are alive with flocks of finches and silvereyes.

Suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Meet on the footpath beside Tomahawk Lagoon on Tomahawk Road just past the bridge.

For further information phone (03) 4640787 and remember to bring along your binoculars.
