Poetry Slam at Your Place - Grand Final

After 1 year, 17 slams, and 87 competitors from around the world – New Zealand’s only regular online international poetry slam is down to our final eight poets! Now they come together to compete for a cash prize, a future feature at Your Place and, most importantly, the title of “That Really Good Poet That Won That Thing, That Time!”

This event is hosted by RikTheMost, in New Zealand so make sure to check your timezone – especially as Daylight Savings just came back into play over here, so it may be different to what you are used to!

Please note: Your Place is an intentional safe space and community with respect and appreciation at its core - for that reason we have numerous moderators at each event. Anyone using inappropriate or offensive language or imagery will be immediately banned.

For those that don’t know: poetry slams are live poetry competitions! And they are super engaging and awesome!

Now before you go, “ooooh but you can’t judge art!”… I agree – it is very difficult to give objective rules with which to hierarchically place one “art” above another “art” but subjectively we do it all the time (not that, that makes us right, mind) through submissions, grant applications, whether you buy something or not, and of course, just actual competitions… we are constantly judging art – again, not that, that makes our opinions right – all we do here is make it a bit more exciting, interactive and fun! PLUS we get to hear a whole load of fabulous poetry at the same time!

As with all Your Place Events – entry is "pay-what-you-can-afford" because finances should not be a barrier to accessing art however – if artists can't afford to make that art then that becomes a pretty big barrier to anyone accessing it! So it is not only appreciated but absolutely necessary.
