Come to the National Library for the annual Pōneke Wellington Poetry Slam Champs and see the region's finest performance poets on stage. As part of the audience you'll get to judge who should represent Te Whanganui-ā-Tara at the 2024 National Champs.

Who will be the 2024 Te Whanganui-ā-Tara champion?
Throughout the year there have been four heats held in collaboration with Poetry in Motion. Now the top three poets from each heat will come together at the National Library to compete to be Wellington’s 2024 Poetry Slam Champion.

Poetry Slams are often hilarious, sometimes heart-breaking events where performance poets are judged by random members of the audience in an arbitrary but totally engaging way!

Since 2011, many of Greater Wellington’s finest performance poets have competed and this year’s slams have been no different. Sold-out events, packed open mics, and searing hot verse screams out poetry is alive and kicking in the capital.
