Dance and spoken word, song and pure energy, this exciting new work from Fua Creative celebrates growth, culture and new life — and the energy, experiences and creative excellence of the rangatahi of Waiharakeke Blenheim who co-created MATALA.

MATALA. In Tongan, matala is often used to describe the growth or ‘blooming’ of flowers.

Created through the lens of Fua Creative Co-Directors Vita and Nicole Vaka, TEDxManukau spoken word master Sheldon Rua, Kimi Young (Black Grace’s UrbanYOUTHMovement, Top of the South Film Festival Gold Reel selection 2020), MATALA represents the new wave of Pasifika voices in Te Tau Ihu in a fusion of original song and music, spoken word, krump and contemporary dance.

Tickets $26 - $36 plus service fees.
