Interchange

Poetry and performance art is an exchange between performer and audience. The artist shares something of themselves and in exchange, they feel the emotional response or reaction of the audience. Interchange is an experimental piece that takes a look at this exchange by asking audience members to share their own stories as Miss Leading shares her own through the medium of poetry.

Miss Leading is an electronic music producer, singer, and poet. Since returning to NZ, Miss Leading has performed solo poetry shows at the NZ Fringe Festival and Kia Mau Festival and will be performing at the Tauranga Fringe Festival and debuting a new piece as part of the 2022 NZ Arts Festival. Miss Leading's work has been published by 'We Are Not Shadows' Anthology for Folkways Press and was a regular writer for Mxyogyny (an award-winning platform focussed on gender). She is also the founder of the Eastern Sound Collective a network of Wellington musicians who aim to support Asian artists who are underrepresented in western music.

This is a free event bought to you by Commonspace. Commonspace have sponsored Miss Leading as an artist in residence for the month of September. Commonspace aim to create an inner-city place of being and belonging, learning and connecting. Providing an enlivening space to incite creative collaboration alongside a free guided programme of ongoing kōrero, learning, stillness, sensation and wonder.
