Gyotaku is a traditional Japanese printmaking technique originally used by fishermen to create an impression of their catch.

During this workshop you’ll get the opportunity to learn the traditional art of gyotaku using sustainably caught New Zealand fish species. Be immersed in this unique printmaking process to create multiple works which will then be reworked and refined to record visual information using Indian ink, hake brushes, calico cloth and a variety of fish species.

Develop a skill set aimed at promoting the full utilisation of what we take from our oceans and strengthen their appreciation and respect for New Zealand’s marine life.

Don’t miss out - only 15 spaces available! All levels welcome. Age: 16 +

What to bring:
• An apron or clothing you don’t mind getting a bit inky.
• All materials provided.
