Artist Floor Talk: Saturday 28 August at 11am.
Join us at Hastings City Art Gallery to hear from artist Carol Shepheard about her exhibition Out of the Shadows: a print journey with Carole Shepheard and friends.
Free, no booking.

Carole Shepheard is a well-known figure in the arts landscape of Aotearoa New Zealand, in 2002 appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to the arts.

Having had a rich and varied journey as an artist, her work and practice has influenced numerous other artists along the way.

An uncompromising feminist artist, Shepheard’s work draws on her reflections on the role of women in society, and her recent work looks at issues related to isolation, anxiety and melancholy in the age of COVID-19. In this exhibition she has asked 11 friends who have shared part of this journey to exhibit alongside her. Each of these artists is influential in their own right and have created print works that explore topical issues of this time.

Out of the Shadows, is a celebration of the past 20 years of Shepheard’s artistic journey thus far, as well as a showcase of the art of print in Aotearoa New Zealand.
