A lasting impression brings together a selection of gyotaku from the past two years by Kāpiti artist Tim Li.

Gyotaku, a technique originating in Japan in the mid-1800s, involves inking physical fish, then applying paper or cotton and rubbing the surface to record the textures, details, and intricacies of the subjects printed.

This collection showcases the familiar and peculiar, only hinting at the vastness and eclectic range of species found in Aotearoa’s oceans.
