An art competition with a twist!
Upper Hutt Multicultural Council is organising a Rangoli Competition for the first time. This competition is a part of their beautiful Diwali celebration being held on 30 October 2021.
Rangoli is an art form originating in South East Asia, in which patterns are created on the floor or tabletop using materials like powdered limestone, red ochre, dry rice flour, coloured sand, quartz powder, flower petals, and coloured rocks. This competition is unique because a participant can use their imagination and use any material they like.
If you are creative and love art, here is your chance to showcase your talent and get certificates and prizes. The participants will also have the opportunity to work with the Upper Hutt Multicultural Council on a "Rangoli an expression of creativity" project. It is a beautiful way to enjoy fun, laughter while preserving the culture of creativity and colour.
The registration fee is $10. The competition will take place on 29 August 2021 in WHIRINAKI WHARE TAONGA earlier known as Expressions in Upper Hutt from 2-4 pm. Gold Coin entry for non-participants. Register on the Upper Hutt Multicultural Council. You can also contact Summer: 022-182-1452 or email: administrator@uhm.org.nz.
