Welcome to the 11th annual South Coast Cleanup.
As well as caring for our coasts and oceans... it's all about community!
We invite you, members of the public, schools, businesses, local groups and organisations to join us, along with hundreds of thousands of volunteers at other places around the world, to take part in the Ocean Conservancy 's International Coastal Cleanup week.
We are all local volunteers who love our south coast. We are keen to keep it free of waste, help preserve it's natural beauty and to look after our oceans and the wildlife that lives there.
With the help of our fantastic volunteer groups, we will have 12 sites set up from Owhiro Bay to Breaker Bay. Choose a site, bring along some extra hands and join us in our mammoth cleaning effort!
To divide and conquer, we are asking any groups 6+ to please get in touch with southcoastcare@gmail.com and we'll let you know where you'll be most help.
12:00 - All rubbish will be gathered up and taken to Lyall Bay (near the playground area) to form one HUGE mountain which will be collected by the council.
12.30 - there will be a sausage sizzle (including vegetarian options) where participants can mingle and meet each other...share stories and celebrate our collective achievement.
