Poetry at Your Place feat. Stephanie Dogfoot - slam champion

New Zealand's ONLY regular online spoken word event!

It’s been a wee while since we had an open mic session at Your Place but time has done its job and forged us towards another poetical gathering of community, appreciation, shit-talk and IMMENSE talent from all over the world, this Sunday 29th November!

And not only do we have our usual smorgasbord of wordy delights on the open mic but we are also being heftily treated to a FEATURE SET from previous UK and Singapore slam champion – STEPHANIE DOGFOOT!!!

For those that are somehow unfamiliar with Steph’s work:

As well as those two rather impressive slam accolades; Stephanie Dogfoot (she/they) also has a poetry collection, Roadkill for Beginners, published by Math Paper Press in 2019. Her work has been featured at the Melbourne Spoken Word Festival, the George Town Literary Festival, Ubud Writers and Readers Festival, Glastonbury Festival and many others. She has toured Germany, Australia, and most recently, North America with her poetry. She currently curates and hosts a monthly poetry night called Spoke & Bird which features local and international poets. As a stand up comedian, she runs a comedy night and chat show called Siao Char Bors which aims to highlight female and LGBTQ comedians from around the world.

So… yeah… REALLY don’t miss this!

As always, this event at Your Place is pay-what-you-can-afford, because finances should not be a barrier to art. HOWEVER if people do not honour that trust-system then this event becomes unsustainable and cannot continue so if you can afford it, please do – the money goes towards paying our artists and keeping this whole thing up and running.

And if you cannot afford anything, still come along and enjoy the poetry with my blessing (though do please help us out by sharing the event and getting some other folks along – that’d be amazing!) – we believe in human kindness at Your Place, so hopefully someone who can afford it will pay a bit more and cover you ☺.
