Hutt Valley Orchestra presents a Sunday afternoon concert under the baton of Donald Armstrong, associate concertmaster NZSO.

The concert features:

Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D with soloist Claudia Tarrant-Matthews followed by two energetic pieces by Saint-Saens Bacchanale from Samson and Delilah, and Danse Macabre and the beautiful Minuet and Dance of the Blessed Spirits from Orfeo and Eurydice by Gluck.

Claudia is a talented 21 year old, Wellington violinist. She is currently playing with the NZSO before moving to London in September to study at the Royal School of Music. In 2018 she was the concertmaster of the National Youth Orchestra and also won the New Zealand School of Music's Concerto Competition. In 2017 and 2018 she was a semi-finalist in the Gisborne International Music Competition. Claudia is excited to be playing Beethoven's only Violin Concerto, an important work in the Violin Concerto repertoire.
