Grab a picnic, put on your dancing shoes and head to the Aotea Lagoon rose garden for Porirua City’s ever-popular Summer Concert Series. Enjoy a relaxed summer evening of music at one of four shows, featuring new artists as well as old favourites.

By popular demand the free concerts are back in the rose garden — at the southern end of the lagoon — on Wellington Anniversary weekend, 18–21 January, from 6–8pm.Bring a picnic or enjoy dinner and a coffee from one of the food trucks onsite. Sit back and let us take care of the entertainment.

Here’s the 2019 line up:

Friday 18 January – The Beat Girls:
Let this irresistible singing trio take you on a musical journey with outstanding vocals, amazing choreography, outrageous costumes and wild wigs.

With something for everyone – from the glamorous swing of the 40s, groovy 60s, disco fever, 80s nostalgia, right through to current day — the Beat Girls are sure to get everyone up and grooving.

Saturday 19 January – Mojo Band:
With non–stop top 10 hits from the 50s through to the very latest music, Mojo aim to get everyone up and dancing with an impressive set list of rock ‘n’ roll, pop and classic hits.

Lead singer Grant Sullivan is the voice of Dancing with the Stars and Mojo have been rocking together for more than 20 years in New Zealand and overseas.

Sunday 20 January – The Shenanigans:
It wouldn’t be a Summer Concert Series without our favourite Irish band The Shenanigans, who never fail to entertain.

The band bring their own unique style with a fun, celtic twist on each song — be it rock ‘n’ roll, country or Irish classics. Come and experience some summer fun with The Shenanigans — you won’t be disappointed!

Monday 21 January – Shaun Preston:
Another hot summer favourite is singer, songwriter, pianist and all–round entertainer Shaun Preston, back by popular demand.

Performing a diverse range of hits from acts like The Killers, David Bowie, Adele and Elton John:Preston is a firm favourite for many concert–goers. His impressive, high energy show is the perfect finale to the 2019 series. Don’t miss it!
