Can Placemaking happen in a commercial setting? Find out from Anna Colville-Smith and Hayley Greer discusses the project to set up a community space within the shopping mall.

"We really wanted to create a relaxing and engaging space for shoppers. The artwork helps bring the Community Library and chill out zone area to life, providing customers with a visual feature that can trigger their own imaginations." The Community Library space was established to provide shoppers and the local community with a relaxing area to sit, take a break and read a book. The Library concept is all about the recycling of books and providing a platform for anyone to take a book home to read leave a book for someone else to read, all books were donated by customers.

Wellington based artist Miz Muller was commissioned to create a large feature wall artwork piece in the zone. The feature wall mural titled ‘A Place to Wonder’ is a design that celebrates the places and the people of the Hutt community. It’s also a space where the viewer can let their imagination go wild in order to discover their own inspirational perspectives.
