Meet up with other people interested in croquet and find out about the strategy involved in Association Croquet, the traditional form of croquet by playing indoor croquet in our clubhouse.

The 'lawn' is an adapted carpet square, with six miniature hoops, the balls are billiard balls, while we have light weight indoor mallets. The small space makes it easier to understand the strategies and get an overview of the game.

But,as it is a small indoor space, his is not suitable for large groups. See photo of clubhouse to get an idea of the size.

There are two types of croquet played at our club - Association and Golf.

In Association Croquet you can earn two more shots by hitting your ball against another one. So you can use the other three balls to earn two more shots. Then, if you score a hoop you have one more shot. As all the balls are live once you have run a hoop you can repeat the process of earning two more shots by hitting the other three balls. It is possible to score a number of hoops in one turn. Sadly, though, for many of us intention and reality don't always coincide, but there is always next time.

Like other sports Association croquet can be played at a range of levels from the purely social to the elite level.

We are at Kelburn Park (and have been there since 1913) Salamanca Road, very close to where Salamanca Road and Kelburn Parade meet. The path from the carpark leads up to the lawns, and, our clubhouse is at the end of the path. By cable car the stop is Salamanca/University. The nearest bust stops are in Salamanca Road and Kelburn Parade.

Our summer season opens on 21 September, and soon after that we will be offering Have Go sessions outside on selected Saturdays, and may have some short half-hour lunch time sessions on Fridays. Mostly this will be Golf Croquet but we can provide an introduction to Association Croquet for those interested.

The introductory offer for the summer season is two free sessions, then four sessions for $30. After that, if you want to continue to develop your croquet skills, its time to sign up for membership, which is $180 from September to April., with the $30 deducted from that if you sign up for membership in the same season.
