Discover the ancient art of felt making in this creative, hands-on workshop.
In this workshop we will learn the resist method of felt-making. This involves making felt around a 2D resist then sculpting and shaping it into a 3D shape. Over the course of an afternoon you will make two felt vessels, which can be used for decorative and practical uses.
You will be shown a range of shapes and fibre choices, and be taken step by step through the felt making process. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn, create and play! For those with some felting experience, a range of ‘add-on’ techniques will be shown to add texture and detail to your vessels.
Wet felt making is a traditional craft that can be used to make a wide range of practical and creative objects. You will leave with the skills to continue felting at home... be warned, it's addictive!
Materials list: Please bring 2 towels and any small vases/pots/vessels that you would like to shape your felt around. All other felt making materials will be provided.
This workshop is held at XCHC, 376 Wilsons road, Waltham. Pedro's cafe will be open onsite with a range of delicious food and drinks.
