Lynden Jackson and Jane Barrett promise an exhibition where the weird contrasts with the wonderful, the quirky meets the ethereal, and beauty clashes with the mundane. The exhibition incorporates a variety of interesting subject-matter, ranging across landscapes, animals, buildings and objects from both the artificial and natural worlds.

Lynden’s oil paintings, on both canvas and plywood, present strong visual images that draw on the subconscious and possess a surrealistic bent. He writes, “The art I create expresses thoughts and images that are close to my heart. I have exhibited in Australia and New Zealand.”

Jane’s works include acrylics on canvas and plywood, print-making, and pencil and charcoal drawings. Simultaneously drawing from nature and the imagination, she finds inspiration in creatures, underlying forms, decay and revival. She writes, “I generally employ detailed subjects, mostly focussing on flora and fauna and the weird and wonderful. My enjoyment of both colour and monotone is evident in my work, as is a love of natural imagery.”

This is a compelling and curious body of work that will interest a wide variety of viewers.
