A free public talk at the Cancer Society’s Lions Lodge in Hamilton.

The Waikato/Bay of Plenty Cancer Society welcomes Dr Rob Rutledge for a free public talk at the Cancer Society’s Lions Lodge on 17 November, 7-9pm.

Dr Rutledge is a Canadian radiation oncologist, specialising in breast, prostate and paediatric cancers. He is also an associate professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University.

In his talk, Body-Mind-Spirit Connection: Empowering yourself on the Cancer Journey, Dr Rutledge embraces a complete cancer care or integrative approach to cancer care that recognises the best of conventional medical care combined with empowering the body, mind and spirit.

The aim of the talk is to support people with a cancer diagnosis to maximise their chances of recovery, feel better physically and emotionally, and to think more clearly and function better.

The talk will also look at practical skills to support wellness, including stress management, relaxation, meditation and reframing difficult thoughts.

To register, please contact supportive care nurse Kay Taylor on kaytaylor@cancersociety.org.nz or phone 07 903 5809 or 027 491 9049.
