Map showing Waterfront Sculpture Walk

The waterfront sculpture trail passes through one of Auckland's historic quarters. It complements the views along the foreshore of the Waitemata Harbour. The waterfront offers some of the finest sites for sculpture in the central business district of Auckland city. The area is a continuum of open urban space - a series of plazas linked by a harbourside walk and broad avenues designed for foot traffic.

The walk takes in seven sculptures around Auckland's CBD waterfront and an online map and information help people to navigate around the trail and to understand the ideas behind the artworks. Although not designed from the outset as a sculpture walk, these works complement each other and are a microcosm of the art of public sculpture in New Zealand. Each work represents one of the myriad of forms, themes and styles of work that have characterised New Zealand's art scene over past decades.
