North Shore Airport is a small regional airport 30KM North of Auckland CBD. Just a 25-minute drive from downtown via Auckland’s Northern Motorway, it is conveniently located near to the North Shore suburbs of Albany and Silverdale.
Since the first flights took place at the current site in the late 1950’s, North Shore Airport has grown to become one of New Zealand’s busiest airports with extensive general aviation and commercial operations. North Shore Airport is owned by the North Shore Aero Club. The club was formed in 1963, however flying activity at the current site started a few years before that.
The airport has two runways. A sealed 03/21 vector and a gravel 09/27, both runways have grass either side also available for landing.
Airlines There are lots of regular scheduled and charter airlines operating from North Shore Airport providing links to various destinations throughout New Zealand. All airlines (Barrier Air, Island Aviation) operate from the main terminal building centrally located at the airport.
Training As New Zealand’s premier fixed wing flight training provider, North Shore Aero Club (NSAC) and Auckland International Pilot Academy (AIPA) cater to everything from recreational to commercial qualifications. North Shore Helicopter Training, conveniently located next door, provides helicopter pilot training.
The airport is a staging post for the Northland Emergency Services Trust (NEST) rescue helicopter, Police Helicopter, Coastguard, and RNZAF and RZNAVY operations.
