"A time capsule in our own backyard". Built in 1876 by John Golder it was the Golder family home for three generations until 1985.
The rooms are furnished much as they were when John, wife Jane and their twelve children lived there. The cottage is home to a fascinating collection of memorabilia and furniture, some of which belonged to the Golder family.
The garden still retains its original shrubs and trees, along with a 100 year plus Kowhai, swing, water pump and outbuildings giving the visitor a snapshot of Victorian family times.
Golder Cottage is open Saturdays and public holidays: 1.30pm - 4pm (except Xmas Day and Good Friday). Groups by arrangement.
