Bohemian Baroque Concert Tour

Baroque Music Community and Educational Trust of New Zealand presents:
Bohemian Baroque Tour: Unveiling the Vibrancy of 17th Century Bohemian Music
Embark on a captivating journey through the heart of 17th-century Bohemia with the "Bohemian Baroque" South Island Concert Tour, an exquisite celebration of a vibrant and innovative musical era!
Our concerts across the South Island will illuminate the enchanting realm of chamber music for two baroque violins, baroque cello, harpsichord, and baroque viola, alongside exhilarating solo concertos for the cello and harpsichord. This series spotlights the genius of Bohemian composers Vodicka, Benda, Tuma, Brentner, Finger, and Reichenauer, whose compositions exemplify the creativity and sophistication of their time.
Proudly featuring accomplished musicians directly from Bohemia, trained in Czech Universities and masters of this distinctive musical style, the tour presents a meaningful opportunity to share their cultural heritage with New Zealand's audiences. Experience the beauty and authenticity of historic interpretation as our artists recreate the soundscape of the 17th-century Bohemian Baroque era.
Music will be performed on period instruments in authentic interpretation, complete with gut strings and baroque tuning. Baroque tuning is unique not only for it's beauty, but for it's ability to sooth the human nervous system. This is because the tuning used is slightly lower then modern instruments, which puts less stress on the instruments, and thus less tension is transferred in the vibrations of the sound.
The tour will grace the resonant halls of basilicas, cathedrals and other venues across the South Islands, venues renowned for their exceptional acoustics that perfectly complement the nuances of Baroque instruments. Concert-goers will be transported back in time, engaging in an aural journey where history and artistry converge to deliver a truly satisfying and beautiful experience as it would have sounded in 17th century Bohemia.
Join us for this exceptional cultural event to explore the depths of Bohemian Baroque and revel in the music's timeless allure. Reserve your seat for a performance that promises to enchant and inspire!
