Bay Dreams South is moving further down the country to the spectacular new southern location of Queenstown, taking place at the Queenstown Event Centre Outdoors on January 5.

"We are extremely excited to launch into this new era of Bay Dreams, where we will be adding a new twist on the festival experience,” says Bay Dreams festival director, Mitch Lowe.

“We'll always deliver the high-tier production that Bay Dreams is known for, but look forward to punters experiencing new picturesque venues that will be offering a fresh vibe to previous years. The line-up features debut NZ performances from fresh acts such as NLE Choppa, Destroy Lonely and Bad Boy Chiller Crew, as well as show stopping legend Kelis and returning festival favourite, Yelawolf. The DJs such as Riton, Sigma and Luude top it all off to create the dream multi-genre day out."

Announced as a headliner and making his way to New Zealand shores for the first time is NLE Choppa; the 20-year old USA rapper who made a phenomenal impact with his platinum and Billboard Hot 100 single ‘Shotta Flow’. NLE has since amassed billions of streams across Spotify and YouTube and become a global superstar. They’ll be joined on the bill by Kelis, the USA artist currently making a massive comeback and hot off the Glastonbury stage; as well as the crowd favourite Yelawolf and USA hip hop artist Destroy Lonely, who is also performing in Aotearoa for the first time.

The 2024 bill also features an impressive array of local and international electronic artists, featuring Australia’s LUUDE; who’s record went platinum in NZ. Fans will know UK DJ Riton from his smash hit ‘Friday’ (ft. Mufasa & Hypeman), as well as UK drum and bass duo Sigma; who’s track ‘Nobody To Love’ shot to #1 in NZ. Performing for the first time in NZ is UK act Bad Boy Chiller Crew, who are joined on the line-up by UK act Vibe Chemistry b2b Alcemist, Lucille Croft - who recently opened for Netsky, and UK multi-genre DJ strong>Skepsis.

Bay Dreams quickly rose to fame upon launching in Tauranga in 2016, and by 2017, bringing over the largest acts in the world to NZ shores every summer, Bay Dreams has focused on exciting stage production inspired by leading overseas events. Baypark was an amazing home for over seven years, but as the brand has evolved along with new management, so has its story and its objectives.

“We are wanting to run a festival surrounded by trees, with beautiful natural shade and within walking distance of town with convenient transport options,” says promoter Carwyn Williams.

Wharepai Domain is the natural fit for where we are going, and we’re excited to expand the site beyond what any event has done before in its space. We cannot wait to see it come to life.”

After an incredible five year stint in Nelson, Bay Dreams has also cast its eyes further south for the southern festival, all the way to the idyllic Queenstown - for 2024 and beyond.

Nelson has been an incredible home for the festival but the vision has always been to tour the brand, and with the securing of this amazing new venue the timing is perfect,” says Bay Dreams festival director, Toby Burrows.

Queenstown Event Centre Outdoors is a purpose built space that captures the stunning views of The Remarkables, and we know having Bay Dreams here will complement everything else the region has to offer over the holiday period.”

This announcement will continue to see Bay Dreams sell out yet another year, it is expected that tickets for both Tauranga and Queenstown events will be in hot demand. Festival goers hoping to secure their spots at Aotearoa’s biggest summer party are advised to get in quickly.
