Platinum Sounds unveils killer lineup for March 2020

Auckland's week-long concert series, Platinum Sounds, is back for another year this March 2020! The much-awaited event is set to grace three famed Kiwi venues—ASB Theatre - Aotea Centre, Powerstation and SKYCITY Theatre—with six of the best platinum hitmakers in tow.

Platinum Sounds promoter Kurt Shanks says: "To celebrate 20 years of bringing our favourite acts to New Zealand, we've put together this killer lineup featuring some of the best bands we grew up with on 'Radio With Pictures' and 'Ready To Roll'. Grab your mates and get yourself sorted—this will be a week to remember."

NZ concert-goers can expect nights of exhilarating performances from their favourite festival heroes such as:

Icehouse
One of Australia's iconic rock groups Icehouse have just celebrated their 40+ year anniversary. Headed up by the musical creative force Iva Davies, the band have transcended age groups with their classic hit songs 'Great Southern Land', 'Hey Little Girl', 'Crazy', 'Electric Blue' and 'My Obsession'. Throughout their career, the group have released an amazing 28x Platinum albums, eight Top 10 albums and over 30 Top 40 singles.

10cc
Rock anthems like 'Dreadlock Holiday', 'The Things We Do For Love', 'I'm Not In Love', 'Art For Art's Sake' and 'Rubber Bullets' are just some of 10cc's timeless tracks. The British rock ensemble have been a music powerhouse since their debut, and they will stop at nothing to show their undying glory, with frontman Graham Gouldman saying: "this is as near as you’re ever going to get to hearing the perfect 10cc. Hit after hit after hit. It’s relentless. We show no mercy."

Midge Ure
Live Aid co-founder and Ultravox frontman Midge Ure is an ultimate hitmaker known for his dynamic live performances. After touring NZ in 2017, this rock superstar is stepping back to the spotlight, playing songs from Ultravox hit album 'Vienna'. Midge will also be performing classic Visage hits and other familiar tracks from his solo albums.

Jan Hellriegel
This year, Kiwi pop songstress Jan Hellriegel has released 'Sportsman Of The Year – A Suburban Philosophy'—her fourth studio album with a beautifully produced book based on the stunning new collection of songs. Her latest catalogue follows her many best-selling pieces like 'The Way I Feel', 'It's My Sin', 'Manic (Is A State Of Mind)', 'No Idea' and 'Melusine'. Sought after in the live arena, Hellriegel has also opened for David Byrne, The Cure, Jeff Buckley and other acclaimed artists.

The Mockers
Their anthems 'Forever Tuesday Morning', 'Swear It's True', 'One Black Friday', 'My Girl Thinks She's Cleopatra' still stand up to a good thrashing on the turntable—a remarkable 30 years later. But it's live on stage where they really shine, and The Mockers' originals Andrew Fagan, Brett Adams, Tim Wedde and Geoff Hayden will make it a night for fans to remember.

The Narcs
If you were to look at the New Zealand music charts anytime in the mid-1980s, Kiwi pop troupe The Narcs were consistently riding high. In the golden age of touring bands, the band have filled pubs and concert halls, have opened for overseas acts like Queen and Elton John, and have toured relentlessly up and down New Zealand and across Australia. In 1984, they were awarded four NZ music awards on the back of the release of their debut album ‘The Great Divide’ and the single '(You Took Me) Heart and Soul'.

So if you want to let loose while singing your heart out to songwriting gems like 'I'm Not In Love', 'Great Southern Land', 'Dreadlock Holiday', 'Forever Tuesday Morning', 'The Things We Do For Love', 'The Way I Feel', 'Electric Blue', 'Heart and Soul', 'Arts For Arts Sake' and much more, better book your tickets before they all sell out!
