Metallica's 'WorldWired' tour heads to New Zealand this October

It is with much regret to announce that the upcoming Metallica shows at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium have been postponed due to James' treatment program.

Here's the official statement from Metallica members Lars, Kirk and Rob:
"We are truly sorry to inform our fans and friends that we must postpone our upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand.

As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years. He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again. We fully intend to make our way to your part of the world as soon as health and schedule permit. We’ll let you know as soon as we can.

Once again, we are devastated that we have inconvenienced so many of you, especially our most loyal fans who often travel great distances to experience our shows. We appreciate your understanding and support for James and, as always, thank you for being a part of our Metallica family."

According to Live Nation, they are working with Metallica to secure a new tour period and will make a further announcement as soon as possible. All tickets purchased to the shows in New Zealand, including Enhanced Experiences and Black Tickets, will be fully refunded.

Last March, Metallica have confirmed their long-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand. Had the shows not been postponed, it would've been the band's first concert dates in Australia since 2013, and first New Zealand shows since 2010:

October 17 - Perth Optus Stadium

October 20 - Adelaide Oval

October 22 - Melbourne, Marvel Stadium

October 26 - Sydney, ANZ Stadium

October 29 - QSAC (Queensland Sports and Athletics Centre)

October 31 & November 2 - Auckland, Mt. Smart Stadium

The previously announced shows are Metallica's first ever headline stadium plays in Australia and New Zealand. They're set to perform 'WorldWired Tour' that has played 130+ shows across the world since its 2016 kick-off. Special guests Slipknot will provide support on all dates.

The 'Wherever I May Roam Black Ticket' will be travelling to Australia and New Zealand as well: one ticket allowing floor access to any Metallica show on this run. Black Ticket holders need only choose the show(s) and make an online reservation no less than 48 hours before the gig. A limited number of these Black Tickets* will be available for $598, more info here: CID Entertainment.

As with most of Metallica's 'WorldWired' shows, every ticket purchased includes a choice of standard physical or standard digital copy of the band's 10th and current album 'Hardwired… to Self-Destruct'. And once again, all tickets will include a free MP3 download of the show(s) attended, mixed and mastered by the team behind 'Hardwired... to Self-Destruct'. The free full-show downloads can be obtained by scanning or entering the barcode from that show’s ticket stub at Live Metallica Scan.

Enhanced experience options will also be returning in partnership with the team at CID Entertainment: three options of special enhanced experiences, including premium tickets and amenities ranging from early access to the venue and the 'Memory Remains' traveling museum to meeting members of the band. Visit CID Entertainment for full package details.

*'Wherever I May Roam Black Tickets' are non-transferable and if re-sold will be revoked. Each ticket is good for entry to Metallica specific shows and may not be used for festivals, promotional shows, benefit concerts or any other dates not included in the seven-date tour announced on March 8, 2019. Use of a Black Ticket will require an online reservation for each show you plan to attend no less than 48 hours in advance. More details about how to use your Black Ticket will be sent to purchasers via e-mail.

**Every ticket purchased through official outlets includes your choice of a standard physical or standard digital copy of 'Hardwired… to Self-Destruct'. Fans will receive an email from their ticketing agent with information on how to redeem their albums. Full details of how you can gift the album, should you have already purchased it, will be given on the redemption page.
