Japandroids Return to New Zealand for July Shows

Kiwi fans are thrilled to witness the much-anticipated shows of Canadian rock duo, Japandroids, who are coming to Auckland and Wellington this July.

Japandroids are composed of two passionate musos namely, Brian King and David Prowse whose music careers began in 2006 holding only a piece of guitar, playing a set of drums matching their well-blended voices sounding like a five- piece band.

After their last NZ shows in 2013, the duo returns in support of their latest album 'Near to the Wild Heart of Life' which came out last January 27th. The title was derived from an excerpt in the novel 'A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man' by James Joyce depicting the loneliness of the main character. The songs were written clandestinely throughout 2014-2015 in Vancouver, Toronto, New Orleans, and Mexico City.

With the release of their second album 'Celebration Rock' in 2012, the band embarked on what seemed like an endless world tour, performing more than 200 shows in over 40 countries and playing their final show in support of Celebration Rock in Buenos Aires, Argentina in November 2013. If 'Celebration Rock' was the culmination of something, then 'Near to the Wild Heart of Life' can be considered the beginning of something else.

Japandroids will be supported by Kiwi up-and-comers Yukon Era. Their playful vocals, which lull into an indie throwback mood, paired with their use of rhythm and dynamic songwriting have made them favourites on the local live music scene.

Don't miss Japandroids' highly-anticipated return to NZ shores this July.
