One Love Festival On Track to Sell Out

One Love Festival is New Zealand’s popular reggae celebration gearing up to be one of summer’s ‘must-see’ events, with all VIP tickets sold out and promoters expecting general admission to sell out within the next few weeks.

One Love Festival features some of the biggest names in the reggae/roots scene, including headliners, Hawaiian legends Kolohe Kai and Kiwi heavyweights Six60.

Saturday sees a mix of local reggae heroes (Israel Starr, L.A.B., Che Fu, Tomorrow People, Sammy J and Katchafire) sharing the stage with well-known international acts (Josh Wawa, Spawnbreezie, Big Mountain, Steel Pulse and Fiji), with headliner Kolohe Kai bringing day one’s party to an epic end.

There’s an equally exciting mix of acts with Paua, Kings, Chad Chambers, Three Houses Down, Aaradhna and Sons of Zion flying the flag for Kiwi sounds, alongside international big hitters Black Slate, The Green, Rebel Souljahz and Tarrus Riley. New Zealand’s very own Six60 brings the festival to a close.

The festival has grown in popularity since it was established and capacity has now been increased to 18,000. Festivalgoers travel from far and wide with around 1500 tickets sold every year to overseas punters from places like Australia and Hawaii.

“The hype is awesome and we so appreciate the support we get from everyone who supports One Love - the fans, the bands, the council, police and the community of Tauranga,” says promoter Pato Alvarez.

"We can’t wait to put another awesome festival and the team is working very hard behind the scenes. People can expect production on an international scale, with the best quality of everything,” he adds.

One Love is proud to support the Bay of Plenty-based Homes of Hope Charitable Trust for the third year running. Next year, the festival will give $1 from every ticket sold to the organisation. One Love is also the main sponsor of Arataki Rugby Club (kids only) and next year, the festival will be donating up to $8,000 worth of training gear, uniforms to the club.

With thousands of punters coming from out of town, and with the festival hiring dozens of local staff, One Love will also provide a massive financial boost to Bay of Plenty businesses and the economy.
