Ty Dolla $ign NZ Tour 2017

One of hip hop’s hottest artists Ty Dolla $ign returns to New Zealand with special guests Kent Jones and SWIDT in January 2017.

The Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has fast become one of hip-hop’s most highly demanded collaborators and solo artists since featuring on YG’s 2010 smash, ‘Toot It and Boot It’.

Ty Dolla $ign had two of 2014’s biggest songs - ‘Paranoid’ featuring B.o.B and ‘Or Nah’ featuring Wiz Khalifa from his Beach House EP before releasing his first studio album. The EP's production credits include DJ Mustard, D'Mile, Young Chop and Ty Dolla $ign himself. It also features guest appearances by French Montana, Trey Songz, Twista, Jay Rock, Travis Scott and Fredo Santana among others.

The Grammy-nominated singer’s much-anticipated and debut album, Free TC was released in November 2015 wherein it met rave reviews. The album was featured on a wide span of year-end lists including Rolling Stone’s “20 Best R&B Albums of 2015” and NPR Music’s “50 Favourite Albums of 2015.”

"Easily one of the best R&B albums of the year. Rap’s reigning hooksmith.” - The New York Times

His latest offering, Campaign, features appearances by Future, Travis Scott, Meek Mill, Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz, Migos and more. Highlights include the already released ‘Campaign (Featuring Future)’, ‘3 Wayz (featuring Travis Scott)’, ‘Zaddy’ and ‘No Justice’, which features Ty’s brother Big TC.

Along with his multi-platinum solo career, Ty Dolla $ign remains among one of the most popular featured artists of the last decade. His highly-acclaimed writing and production skills keeping him working with the biggest names in the industry. In addition to Fifth Harmony’s Teen Choice & MTV Video Music Award-winning chartbuster ‘Work From Home (Feat. Ty Dolla $ign)’, recent highlights include Kanye West’s ‘Fade’ and ‘Real Friends’, Nick Jonas’ ‘Bacon’, Afrojack’s ‘Gone’, Chance the Rapper’s ‘Blessings (Reprise)’, Rihanna’s ‘FourFiveSeconds (with Kanye West & Paul McCartney)’ and of course ‘Sucker For Pain’ by Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa & Imagine Dragons with Logic and Ty Dolla $ign (Feat. X Ambassadors).

The latter track featured on Suicide Squad: The Album Atlantic Records’ chart-topping musical companion to the Warner Bros. Pictures film – has proven a crossover phenomenon, reaching No. 1 on “Hot Rap Songs.” The Sucker For Pain companion video is an equivalent blockbuster, currently boasting more than 246 million YouTube views and still on the rise.

Joining Ty Dolla $ign on his first New Zealand visit (Auckland and Christchurch shows only) is Kent Jones, who earned his cred as a producer before taking his music to the masses. After working with Ace Hood and DJ Traphouse, he was called up to the majors by DJ Khaled. He

He's signed to "We the Best Entertainment" as a triple threat, producer, singer, and rapper. Jones released his single, ‘Don't Mind’ and appeared alongside Ace Hood and Vado on Khaled's cut ‘365’. The latter landed on the NBA 2K16 video game soundtrack. ‘Don't Mind’ went on to be one of the biggest hits in 2016, rising into the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, hitting no. 1 on the Rap charts and surpassing over 162 million streams and counting.

New Zealand’s own future of hip hop, SWIDT (See What I Did There), will open the shows in Christchurch and Auckland. SWIDT is a critically-acclaimed 5-piece from Onehunga featuring MC’s SPYCC and INF, Boomer Tha God, and producers JAMAL and SmokeyGotBeatz.

Auckland’s Jess B+ will also appear at the Auckland show. Though her flow is uniquely her own, her sound is unmistakably new wave with its roots strongly grounded in old school hiphop smoothed over by an urban Kiwi style that distinguishes the New Zealand Hip hop scene from all others.

Mai fm’s DJ Sir-Vere will be a special guest at all New Zealand shows.

In what promises to be the most live hip hop show of the year, this is one essential tour not to be missed!
