Auckland Summer Starts Today With Amazing Events At The Queens Wharf

Summer on Queens returns for another stellar season now into its fourth year, Summer on Queens is set to transform Queens Wharf once again into an outdoor hub of free activities kicking off in November and running through to April 2016. Embrace your inner zen with sunrise yoga, sharpen your pencils for life drawing club, immerse yourself in live art, music, performances and so much more.

Summer on Queens has been developed by Panuku Development Auckland to continue to engage the community in ‘The People’s Wharf’ and activate the public spaces for all Aucklanders and visitors to enjoy. Queens Wharf Manager Connie Clarkson from Panuku says "Each year we continue to grow and create something special on Queens Wharf with our summer programme. We have come to see an eclectic community of supporters really embrace and engage in what we are doing with the space."

Launch of Summer on Queens Wharf - with Connections Forest/City
The Summer on Queens programme kicks off on 11 November from 5pm-7.30pm with the launch of Connections Forest/City Part Two. A special outdoor exhibition at Queens Wharf pairs a group of emerging photographers with world-renowned photographer Tom Ang for a collaborative exhibition titled 'Connections - City'. A diverse community-focused exhibit, it explore themes around physical connections, relationships, diversity and reflections to form a stunning inner city al fresco gallery.

Sunrise Yoga
Get your zen on with outdoor Sunrise Yoga on the first Wednesday of every month. All experience levels welcome, BYO yoga mats (some provided but first come first served). Classes are held at the waters edge, behind The Cloud at the end of Queens Wharf.
4 November, 2 December, 3 February, 2 March, 6 April - 7am-8.15am.

Life Drawing Club
For all the aspiring artists, Drawing Club returns to the wharf again this year. Bring your own drawing supplies and we'll provide the life model, stunning backdrop and live DJ sets to get you inspired.
Sessions will take place on 10 November, 8 December, 9 February, 8 March and 12 April - 5pm-7pm.

Block Party
On the east side of New York City in the 1970s communities congregated, city blocks were cordoned off, the streets became playgrounds, and block parties began.
Come 22 November, relive the concept at the Queens Wharf Block Party right here on Auckland's waterfront, with a free mini art and music festival set to take over the western side of Queens Wharf and The Cloud from 4pm-8pm. Enjoy a steady stream of live performances, art installations, vintage pop up stalls, artisan markets, breakdancing battles and everything in between - featuring Miss June, HDSPNS and more.
